Home Is About to Have a New Address
For months, Italy has felt like a dream we talked about more than a reality we were actually living.
Sure….
There were passports to apply for,
packing lists to make,
neighborhoods to research,
and endless conversations that always seemed to end with, "We'll figure it out when the time comes."
Well... the time has come.
This week, we put our house on the market.
And somehow, that little sign in the front yard made everything feel real.
It's funny how one moment can shift everything.
Not the military orders.
Not the countdown.
Not the spreadsheets or moving checklists.
A simple "For Sale" sign.
Suddenly, this isn't just a future adventure… it's our life. And it’s happening NOW.
In just eight weeks, we'll wake up in a different country. We'll be figuring out grocery stores in another language, learning new routines, making new friends, and discovering what "home" looks like all over again.
It's exciting.
It's overwhelming.
It's a little heartbreaking.
And somehow, it all feels right.
Our home has held so much life.
This is our first family home. It's where little feet learned to run through the hallways, where we counted down the days until Daddy came home from not one, but TWO deployments, where birthdays were celebrated, Christmas mornings were full of magic, and ordinary Tuesday nights became memories we'll carry forever.
The walls don't just hold furniture.
They hold our story.
As a military family, I know that we’ll become experts at saying goodbye.
We know that home isn't always a place… it's the people you carry with you. But that doesn't make leaving easier. Every PCS asks you to loosen your grip on something you've grown to love while opening your hands to something you've never seen before.
This move feels especially big.
Not just a new town.
Not just a new state.
A new country.
A new culture.
A new rhythm of life.
For so long, the waiting felt endless. We knew Italy was coming, but it always felt just out of reach. Now, the waiting has been replaced by logistics.
Boxes.
Paperwork.
Appointments.
Checklists.
Closets to sort.
A house to keep spotless for showings with three littles who somehow create a tornado every fifteen minutes.
The emotional countdown has turned into a practical one.
And honestly?
I think that's what's making it all sink in.
We're no longer dreaming about the adventure.
We're stepping into it.
Eight weeks from now, this house will belong to another family.
Eight weeks from now, our kids will be exploring somewhere entirely new.
Eight weeks from now, we'll begin writing a chapter we've only begun to imagine.
Join us on this what’s sure to be WILD ride.
The beautiful moments.
The culture shocks.
The travel lessons.
The homesickness.
The joy.
And everything in between.
Because that's what this next step has always been about… finding adventure, even when it begins with saying goodbye.
Italy...
We're almost there.
